Orthoses for Pelvis & Back Pain
Ian Sadler, the lead clinician at Norfolk's BxClinic, is a renowned expert in the field of orthoses. Orthotic treatment (tailored inserts that fit into your shoes) is hugely beneficial for treating lower back and pelvic pain.
Your back and pelvis provide the stability centre for your body. The slightest misalignment in this structure leads to poor biomechanical movements in your back and pelvis, hips, knees and feet. Functional scoliosis is caused by poor biomechanics. If you have leg length discrepancy, it affects your gait (walk) and your lower body biomechanics and causes pelvis and lower back pain.
Well crafted custom-made orthotics act like a piece of tailored ground to walk on, they correct your body’s alignment and alleviate the pain and stresses placed on the lower back and pelvis.
Referrals
BxClinic specialises in biomechanics and we work within the scope of our practice and expertise to deliver the best possible care and outcomes for our patients. There are times when our assessments of a patient’s condition determine that the best course of treatment is with a clinician of a different expertise.
A good example of this might be a soldier who presents with lower back pain, which on assessment is found to be caused by a poor fitting further complicated by incorrect boot lacing. We work with local outdoors shops and would refer in such cases rather than wrongly treating the presenting symptoms.
We work with a range of partners including physiotherapists, osteopaths, massage therapists, Pilates teachers, sports rehabilitators and local specialist shops.

The brain forgets much, but the lower back remembers everything.
